Linda Lou Horn Proffitt, age 77, of Swords Creek, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 1:58 p.m., at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Born February 11, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Gallie Horn, Sr., and Viola Lovus Bucklen Horn.
Linda worked for Richlands Sewing Factory, formerly known as Eastern Aisle for many years. She was a housewife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and loving friend.
Saved and giving her heart to God at the age of 13 she lived a faithful life unto the Lord for 64 years. She was a longtime member of the Harvest Time Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. When the Lord the righteous judge shall give me that day and not to me only, but unto all them that love his appearing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Donnie Lewis Proffitt; and one infant child; five sisters, Inez Rife, Violet Rife, Vina Barker, Kathy Justice and June Keene; four brothers, Ralph Horn, Lawrence Horn, James Horn and Gallie Horn, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memories include her ex-husband, Charlie Lewis Proffitt (Sue) of Premier, VA; two sons, Delmer Pratt Proffitt of Richlands, VA, and Charles Andrew Proffitt (Jenni) of Cedar Bluff, VA; one daughter, Lovace Marie Proffitt Bowman (Leslie) of Roanoke, VA; six sisters, Wanda Horn and Dora Gragg both of Pilgrims Knob, VA, Virginia "Bunny" Anthony of Maryland, Peggy McGinnis (Larry), Susie Smith of Pounding Mill, VA, and Nina Whited (Roger) of Raven, VA; eight grandchildren, Laurissa Teague (Zaine) of Hickory, NC, Jessica Proffitt Charles (Liam) of Bristol, Justin Proffitt of NC, Tawny Proffitt of Honaker, VA, Joshua Proffitt (Morgan) of Richlands, VA, Brandon Bowman (Paul) of Roanoke, VA, Evin Bowman (Max) of Roanoke, VA, and Alijah Proffitt (Caitlin) of Richlands, VA; four great grandchildren, Chloe and Aiden Teague of Hickory, NC, and Harper and Hayden Charles of Bristol; two special friends that carried Linda to church for many years, Dana Blankenship and Linda Messer whom she thought the world of.
Funeral services for Linda Lou Horn Proffitt will be conducted Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 11 a.m., in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Tim Lester and Gary Keene officiating. Burial will follow in the Ferrell Cemetery on Horn Mountain.
Active pallbearers will be Joshua Proffitt, Alijah Proffitt, Brandon Bowman, Evin Bowman, Justin Proffitt, Jacob Lester and Caleb Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Harvest Time Tabernacle Church.
The family will receive friends at Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, VA, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, after 6 p.m., with evening services at 7 p.m.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Bristol Regional Medical Center for their kindness and treatment of their mother throughout the last four years and through this difficult time. Words cannot express the kindness and dignity you gave to our family and especially to our mom. We will be forever grateful.
