Rev. William Lawrence Richard Horn, 76 years of age of Horn Mountain, VA went to his heavenly home on February 3, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. surrounded by his family. Born in Buchanan County, VA on September 29, 1941 he was the son of the late Gallie Horn and Viola Bucklen Horn.
Lawrence was a coal miner for 36 years, a gardener at heart, and a true southern cook. He fell in love young, raised a family, and walked the path God set before him. He called the mountains home, whistled gospel tunes, and preached Gods word. He prayed beside his wife every night, studied his Bible daily, and set a righteous example for all he met. He enjoyed picking berries in the summer, fishing in the sunshine, and spending time with his family. He had the patience to whittle, the strength to believe, and the serenity to face his death.
God called Lawrence to preach for 35 years, 19 of which were spent pastoring Loggy Bottom Pentecostal Holiness Church. His favorite Bible verse was 1 Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Lawrence was married to Norma Mullins of Compton Mountain for 56 years and together they raised three boys and one girl. The Lord blessed him with seven grandchildren (aka Hurricane seven) and eight great-grandchildren. Lawrence was born the seventh child out of sixteen to Viola Bucklen Horn and Gallie Horn.
He leaves behind a legacy of born-again believers in Jesus Christ and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
