Denny Ray Goss, 70 years of age of Cedar Bluff, VA, formerly of Whitewood, VA, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. Born May 15, 1950 in Whitewood, VA, he was the son of the late Elmer Ritter Goss and Dorothy Kelly Goss.

Denny was a 1968 graduate of Whitewood High School and Southwest Virginia Community College with a Mining Engineer Degree, and attended Clinch Valley College where he studied education. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, a member of The American Legion, a retired coal miner and was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed gardening, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Wanda Goss Fraley.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-five years Sandra Bucklen Goss of Whitewood, VA; children Sarah Thompson and husband Harold of Grundy, VA, Denny Goss, II and wife Wendy of Wardell, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law Leon Goss of El Paso, TX, Ralph and Jerry Goss of Roanoke, VA, James Goss of Whitewood, VA, Jimmy and Anita Goss, Richard Goss all of Whitewood, VA.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Virginia Thompson, Gabriel Thompson and Spencer Wireman, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Denny Ray Goss will be held at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Keen Mountain, VA, Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Roger Keene officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Gary Bucklen, Robbie Bower, Harold Thompson, Jr., Gabriel Thompson, Nick Cook, Eric Goss and Roger Cole.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of MSA Hospice and Dr. Larry Mitchell, Jody Fuller and staff of Claypool Hill Pharmacy.

The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Keen Mountain, VA, Monday, after 6:00 p.m. with evening service to be held at 7:00 p.m.

Denny was very thankful for his devoted care givers, and friends and family- Wendy Goss, Chuck Spencer and Beverly Spencer.

In observance of COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing will be observed, and the wearing of masks is required for attendance.
