Ronald "Ron" Dale Kelly, age 63, of Whitewood, VA passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a short illness. He was born December 13, 1957 in Point Pleasant, NJ and was the son of the late Charlie and Frances Horn Kelly.
Ron retired in April as the Major of Keen Mountain Correctional Center after working over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Whitewood Volunteer Fire Department where he served as assistant Chief. He was a member of the Blackey Baptist Church in Hurley, VA. Ron enjoyed camping, flea markets, woodworking, and spending time with his family and dog, Belle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Kelly.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 38 years, Sharon Kelly; two daughters, Dr. Amanda Pullum and husband Shawn of Marina, CA and Amy Kelly of the home; one sister, Anita Kelly-Harrison of Prospect, VA; one nephew, Rhyan Harrison; Ron's # 3 kid, Rachel Vandyke.
The family will receive friends from 11 – 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 12th at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Eugene Whited officiating. The funeral can be viewed on our Singleton Funeral Service Facebook page Tuesday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be David Lee, Tracy Davidson, Shawn Owens, Shannon Fuller, Larry Fields, Dustin Owens, and Mark Shreve.
As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Commonwealth of Virginia Mandate, only 25 people are allowed at one time in the funeral home. Facial coverings and social distancing are required at all times.
