Resides on the old homestead with his widowed mother (Severance, B. Frank. Genealogy and biography of the descendants of Walter Stewart of Scotland and of John Stewart who came to America in 1718 and settled in Londonderry, N.H. Greenfield, Mass. : T. Morey & Son, 1905, pg. 69, 133).
Severance and the 1870 census indicate an 1865 birth year, while later records, including his grave marker, indicate 1866. 1865 seems more likely.
