A volunteer in the Civil War, enlisted first as a lieutenant 38th Regiment, N.Y. Volunteers, was promoted for field bravery and mustered out as the close of the war (Severance, B. Frank. Morey & Son, 1905, pg. 207-208).
Edward Hasting Kellogg was the son of Warren Stewart Kellogg and Lucy Ann Rawdon. He was one of 10 children of the couple. Edward was an accomplished writer and poet. He was a 2nd Lt in Company K NY 39 Volunteers. He married Maria Curtin May 30, 1875 and they were parents of Irving, Edwin, Isaac, Mable & Mary Stewart Kellogg. He is at rest in Woodlawn Cemetery (findagrave)
