Raymond J.Herroon, age 90, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, Feb. 26, 2005 at his home with his loving wife by his side. The son of Edward & Amelia Herroon, he was born Feb. 12, 1915.
Ray was a proud veteran of W.W.II, serving with the Seabee's in the U.S. Navy, & was a life member of the Lester J.Sitts V.F.W post 5065 in Sheridan. On Nov. 19,1938, in Maumee, Ohio, he married the former Viola H. Barringer.
Since 1948 he worked as head of building & grounds maintenance for St.Charles Catholic Church, School & Cemetery in Greenville.
Retiring in the early 1980's. In Addition he worked at Federal Mogul Corp. for 17 yrs, was a member of St.Charles Catholic Parish where he was an usher for 57 yrs, & belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by a son Frank, a sister Peggy Wotjtowicz, 3 brothers Bud, George, & Leo Herroon; 6 grandchildren; & 3 great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 66 yrs Viola, 3 daughters, Violet, Ethel,& Barb ; 2 sons Richard "Dick" & Ray Herroon of Greenville, 22 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 7 g.great grandchildren; & many nieces & nephews (findagrave.com)
