"Recollections of a lifetime" by Samuel Griswold Goodrich (NY : Miller, Orton & Co., 1856) gives an account of his life along with a letter he wrote to his son Amos, pages 326-330. He was a Colonel in the Connecticut militia and served during the Revolutionary War. A member of Congress under the Articles of Confederation, Judge of County Court, Judge of Probate, and member's of Governor's Council. He enjoyed the friendship of Washington and was acquainted with Lafayette, Rochambeau, and De Grasse.
