Kenneth Smith Allred
Died at his home in West Point, Utah, April 28, 2012.
He was born in Ogden on August 12, 1925 to Birt P. and Ada Eliza Garner Allred.
He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 4, 1943 until March 16, 1950. He was in the 88th Infantry, Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and nine additional awards.
He married Cleo Pope on October 19, 1945 and they had four children; Linda Abrams (Jon), Lloyd (Nick) Allred (Dorothy), Judy Miller (Rob), and Burt (Bud) Allred.
Kenny lived in Weber and Cache Counties; worked in construction, auto repair, and at Hill Field and DDO.
Horses were his passion. He was co-founder and first president of the Utah Trail and Endurance Riders.
He was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters; his wife Cleo, and one great grandchild, Chelsea.
He is survived by his children; 17 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grand children and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Kenny will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday also at the mortuary.
