Mary Elaine Layton Marston Dye, our angel and guiding light, who was our life, wife, mother, sister, mother, and grandmother, has passed away at home just eight days short of her 89th birthday with her loving family by her side, August 4, 2006. Mary was born August 12, 1917 the second child of Martha Love Layton and George W. Layton of Clearfield, Utah. She married her sweetheart, Myron Young Marston on April 17, 1933. They were sealed to each other for time and all eternity in the LDS temple. They were married over 50 years and had six children. Mary's husband, Myron, preceded her in death on June 11, 1983. Also one son, Allan Marston March 30, 1946.
Mary later was blessed to meet and marry her current husband, Merlin John Dye of North Ogden, Utah on July 12, 1986, who she has loved dearly. They have shared 20 wonderful years together. He had one child. Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a Primary Teacher, Relief Society visiting teacher, and also the president of International Relations. She owned and operated the Victory Market, one of three food stores in Clearfield in those years. She worked at Adrian's apparel and the Clearfield Drug Store for many years. She loved music, and dancing, cooking and camping. Mary's incredible gracious manner endeared her to everyone. She was a beautiful woman with many talents and abilities. The greatest was showing unconditional love and honesty. Preceding her in death were her parents , husband, son and brother. Surviving are her husband, Merlin John Dye, and six children Hellen Pokarth, Roy; Darlla (Don) Taylor, West Point; Lynda (John) Patterson, Roy; Douglas (Diane) Marston, Clinton; Debra Pace, Clearfield; Joseph Dye, Ogden; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Beth Fowler and Nellie Jensen. Internment Kaysville City Cemetery.
We as a family wish to thank Mary's friends who so kindly and lovingly cared for her at Family Tree Assisted Living, West Point, Utah. We also give thinks to Applegate Hospice for all their support, help and guidance in the last months of our mother's life. She has left a wonderful legacy. Mother, we love you always!
