Mrs. Jean Marie Foster Pool of 1203 Peach Avenue, South Boston, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on August 1, 1928 and was 81 at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Willie Allen Foster and Virginia Covington Foster and was married to Wilton Ervin Pool, who survives.
Mrs. Pool was a member of Stoneville Presbyterian Church, Stoneville, North Carolina and attended First Presbyterian Church and Berry Hill Presbyterian Church. She formerly worked in the North Carolina School system and was with Virginia Power for 15 years.
Mrs. Pool is survived by her husband of the home, caretakers and special friends, Lyric Hutchinson, Rosa Sharp, Hazel Lacks and Joyce Landrum. She was preceded in death by a son, Foster Pool.
A funeral service for Mrs. Pool will be held Friday, November 20 at 11 a.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Gorman officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and at other times at her home, 1203 Peach Avenue, South Boston.
