Obituary: Died at his residence in Spanish Point on Wed. 10 April 1816 after illness of few weeks Josiah William Dunscombe, M.D. It may be generally lamented that this worthy Man who possessed in an eminent degree the knowledge of his profession should have so early secluded himself from a society of which he was calculated to be so useful a member. But let those who were unacquainted with his reasons for so doing be satisfied that they were good ones. And let us all pray that, be our summons soon or late from this transitory state of existence, we may be as prepared as he was to meet it, and to pay as willing an obedience as he did to it. An appropriate sermon was preached before the Rev. Mr. Ewing (William Zuill notes, Bermuda Archives, Bermuda).
