Always known as Edward, including on most documents. His full birth name is Cecil Edward John Ferdinand Dunscombe.

Military notes below were relayed in his later years. Only the fact that he served in the Merchant Marine, and at Camp Drum, have been substantiated.

Served in the Merchant Marine from approximately 1932 till 1942, going in under legal age with the help of his stepfather Sam Bisher, who was also in the Merchant Marine. His serial number was 32500234.
Edward was in Company L, 106th then 133rd Infantry Regiment, 34th Division. Technician 5th Grade. Medical detachment # 2, 1209th Service Command. Inducted 9/11/1942.

Employed by Prudential Life Insurance Co. from shortly after the war until late 1970's. Except for war service resided in Brooklyn, NY until relocating to Perry Hill Rd., Shushan, NY in late 1970. Moved to Virginia Beach, VA circa 1982 and to Port Richey, FL circa 1986 (Timber Oaks development). Lived for many years at 1832 E 31 St., Brooklyn, NY. Pioneered the first family genealogy efforts in the mid-1970's.
After the war he secured a job with Prudential, where he worked until retiring about 1975.
