"Descendent of Pioneers Died in California"
"Funeral services were held at the Williams Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Nettie Hine Edwards, who died in Claremont, Calif., Friday morning. Had she lived until March 6, Mrs. Edwards would have been 96 years old, having been born in Poland in 1851. She was a daughter of Abraham Skinner and Nancy Gibson Hine, pioneer residents of Poland township, where her early years were spent. She attended Poland Seminary and as a young woman taught in Canfield. In 1872 she was married to George R. Edwards, who died exactly 58 years before his wife. She had been a resident of Canfield ever since her marriage until going to California about 20 years ago to make her home with her daughter, Miss Mary A. Edwards. Deceased was a member of the Canfield Presbyterian church and the Wimodaughsis Club. Despite her advanced years Mrs. Edwards had a keen mind and kept an active interest in affairs, though she had been quite frail physically for several months. Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Clyde H. Edwards of Washington, D. C., and six grandchildren, Clyde H. Jr., Francis, Donald and George David Edwards, Mrs. William Hayghe, all of Washington and Mrs. Carroll Brooks of Staunton, Va. She also leaves 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. P. McCulloch and Rev. Carroll Brooks and burial made in Canfield cemetery."
"Mr. and Mrs. Clyde H. Edwards and Donald Edwards of Washington, D. C. and Rev. Carroll Brooks of Staunton, Va., left for their homes Wednesday morning, having come for the funeral of their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Nettie H. Edwards. Miss Mary A. Edwards, who came from Claremont, Calif., accompanied them to Washington for a visit before returning home" (findagrave.com)
