PRUGH, S. Madge (Chatfield) went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 29 at Mercy St. John's Center following 10 years of failing health. She was born on May 1, 1919 in Springfield, Ohio the daughter of Theodore Royer & Bessie Madge (Cheatwood) Neal. She was employed for 36 years as a stenographer in different offices which included: Max McDorman Realty; Attorney Matthew Brown; Attorneys Olinger & Olinger and The City of Springfield Clerk's Office. She attended Hillside Ave. Church of God most of her life where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, recording secretary and was involved in Women of the Church of God. She assumed numerous offices in Stonecroft Christian Women's Club. She was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings, including: Lillian Ruth Neal, William Neal, Ann Archer, Iona Neff, Ethel James, Evelyn Vickers, Betty Lou Neal and Charles Wesley Neal. Also predeceasing her in 1975 was Jack Chatfield, her first husband, and in 2000, Chester Prugh, her second husband. Survivors include one son, Dale Chatfield, and his family, Hope (Tracy) Stansberry, Billy (Dee) Chatfield, Belinda Bagent, Krista (Russ) Tetzloff, Christopher Chatfield and Timothy Chatfield; one daughter, Linda (Jim) Cotter, and her family, Lori (Jeff) Hobbs and Daren (Kathleen) Cotter; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Neal, several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hillside Ave. Church of God, 2021 Hillside Ave., Springfield, on Monday, June 1 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. followed by the service at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Michael Criner and Rev. George Reed officiating Interment will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Burcham Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorial donations may be made to WCG of Hillside Church of God or Alzheimer's Association.
