Byron Roger Buchwald passed from this life three days after his 78th birthday. He was born September 10, 1922 to Florence Burritt Buchwald and Fred John Buchwald in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the tenth of eleven children. Dad married our mom, Ellen June Wickens on August 16,

1947. She preceded him in death. He later married Kay Farnsworth. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his good friend Leona Begent. He retired from Ingersoll Rand after more than thirty years of service. He was active in the Sunday Anderson Senior Center. Dad loved playing bingo and going to Wendover with his many friends. He was a great Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by a son Robert (Marlyn) Mangum, three daughters Beverly Faugno, Debbie (Glenn) Reeves and Carel (Vern) Hicks. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Dad also leaves behind Michelle Smith who brought him great joy in the last months of his life. He was preceded in death by one grandson and seven brothers and sisters.

A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, September 17, 2000 from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, September 18, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Mortuary, 2126 South State Street. There will be a small graveside service at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road immediately following Monday's viewing.
