"LONG TIME RESIDENT OF COUNTY EXPIRES

Died at his home in Sioux Valley Township February 24 after a years illness.

Cecil Carl Harsin was born October 17, 1874, in Union County, near Elk Point, and here he grew to manhood. On October 9, 1896, he was united in marriage to Rosie May Allen, also of Union County. To this union one son was born, Henry Lewis Harsin, now residing at Blunt, this state.

Early in the year of 1905 they moved to Gettysburg where they resided until the year of 1927 when they returned to Elk Point. Mr. Harsin died at 9:00 o'clock on the morning of February 24 at his home in Sioux Valley township. About a year ago he suffered a paralytic stroke, and had been ill since that time.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, his son, two grandchildren, a brother, Jesse Frank Harsin of Hawarden, Ia., a sister Mrs. Alfred Palmer of Worland, Wyoming, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Elk Point Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. Clarence Peirce officiating. Burial was in the Elk Point Cemetery."

It is noted that on his death certificate with the Department of Health, State of South Dakota, No. 2632, his name is stated as "Cecil C. Harson". It is also stated that his father is "Amos Harson", being born in Indiana, and his mother is "Elizabeth Franks", also being born in Indiana. Cause of death on this death certificate is stated as "Acute Cardiac Dilitation".
