Reathel Alice Hargis Brown, 80, of Pilgrim Knob, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands.
Born in Belfrey, KY, April 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James Hargis and Erma Shannon Hargis. She was a homemaker, attended Baptist Bible Church and was an avid yard sale and flea market enthusiast.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Otis Brown, Sr.; one sister, Briza Shoemaker; and four brothers, Ezra, Les, Lynn and Bo Hargis.
She is survived by two sons, James Stuart Brown and wife, Emily of Pilgrim Knob and Willie Otis Brown, Jr. and wife, Arlette, of Lupton, MI; two sisters, Marie Hunter of Richlands and Ruth Hargis of Foquay-Varina, NC; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 1 at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Keen Mountain, with Pastor Andy Maynard and Pastor Troy Lester officiating. Burial followed in the Esau Rife Cemetery, Keen Mountain.
