Mrs. Edith Ellen Clifton Cantrell, age 89, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away Saturday June 11, 2011 at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, VA she was the daughter of the late Walter & Flossie Clifton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son Spc. 4 Gerald Wayne Cantrell; two brothers Norman Clifton and Jack Clifton and three sisters Grace Whitt, Zelma Gragg and Bernice Mullins. Mrs. Cantrell was a member of the Richlands Tabernacle for 42 years.
Mrs. Cantrell is survived by her husband of 71 years Calvin Cantrell; three sons Jack Cantrell & wife Janice of Richlands, VA; Darell Cantrell & wife Dwana of Cedar Bluff, VA and Mike Cantrell & wife Brenda of Christiansburg, VA; one brother Morrell Long & wife Linda of Richmond, VA; three sisters Exie Carey of Akron, OH; Jean Melone of Richmond, VA and Bennie Stanford of Butte, Montana; 9 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandson and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Cantrell will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday June 13, 2011 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, VA with Rev. Ralph Horton and Rev. Bob Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, VA. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
The Family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA from 6-9 P.M. Sunday. The Family would like to thank the Wellmont Hospice House for their exceptional care and compassion.
