Lester J. "Buck" Troon, Sr., 72, long-time Milton resident, died unexpectedly Monday morning, Jan. 3, at Mercy Hospital where he was admitted Sunday after a brief illness at home.

He was born June 28, 1904, in the town of Magnolia, the son of Stephen and Willa Bartels Troon, and was married to the former Helen Jacobson June 9, 1928 in Rockford, Ill.

He had been employed for 43 years in the inspection department at the local General Motors plant, retiring in 1963, and was a member of UAW Local 95 and First United Methodist Church, Milton. He was employed part-time as a crossing guard at Milton East grade school until his death.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Richard, Lester and Thomas, all of Milton; three daughters, Mrs. Millie Weger, Janesville, Mrs. Robert Sterner and Mrs. Harley Ligman, Milton; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Percy Stone, Janesville, Mrs. Harry Saevre, Orfordville, and Mrs. Richard Olds, Sun City, Calif.

Services were to be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, in the Methodist Church, with Rev. Joan Deming Cavallo officiating. Burial was to be in Milton Cemetery (findagrave.com)
