Wendel J. (Lefty) Beringer, 66, of North Tonawanda, unexpectedly Friday (February 2, 1979) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in Tonawanda he was husband of Helen (nee Towers) Beringer who died in 1967 and son of the late Wendel and Rose (nee Sieber) Beringer. A Navy veteran of World War II, he had been employed at International Filler Corp. in North Tonawanda for more than 45 years, retiring in 1978 and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Tonawandas Post 264, American Legion.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. June Celano of Ontario, Calif., Mrs. Sandra Blassingham of Pomona, Calif., and Mrs. Terry Palm of Carlsbad, Calif., a son, Robert W. Beringer of Los Angeles, Calif., four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Teresa) Tomaselli of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Joseph (Rose) Nowak and Miss Helen Beringer all of Tonawanda, seven brothers, Joseph (Christine) Beringer of the Town of Tonawanda, Anthony (Marge) Beringer, Nicholas (Joan) Beringer and Charles (Charlotte) Beringer, all of Tonawanda, John (Mary) Beringer of Kenmore, Frank Beringer of the Town of Amherst, and W. Robert (Elvira) Beringer of North Tonawanda and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Morgan and William Streets, Tonawanda where services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 9:30. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Ralph M.Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery (Tonawanda News, Feb. 5, 1979).
