These two places were some seven hundred miles apart, so this seems doubtful. Kernei is likely as the birthplace since his son Wendel's World War II draft registration card states he was born in Kerney, Hungary.

However all of his supposed siblings in this family are listed as being born in Erlenbach, Wurttemburg, Germany, while Wendelin is listed as being born in Kernei, Hungary. I believe there may be two people named Wendelin Beringer/Behringer: Wendelin Beringer born in Kernei and Wendelin Behringer born in Erlenbach, and doubt that the Wendelin born in Kernei is the son of Johan Gregorius Behringer located in Erlenbach (EAD)
