Marion M. Whitcomb, 72, of Winthrop died Monday at Kennebec Valley Medical Center, Augusta. She graduated from Wilton Academy.
Mrs. Whitcomb was office manager for the American Journal of Westbrook for eight years and worked at Royal Globe Insurance in Portland for 10 years.
She was a past noble grand of Rebekahs of Wilton, secretary of Maine Young Democrats during the 1950s, president and district director of Insurance Women of Southern Maine, a member of the Wayne-Winthrop Garden Club, and founder of Wildridge Garden Club of Standish.
A daughter, Darlene May Maxwell, died in 1969.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Roy A. Whitcomb Jr.; a son Dale Maxwell of Windham; a stepson, Christopher R. Whitcomb of Ogden, Utah; two sisters, Hazel White of Wilton and Francis McCourt of North Jay; two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
