Charles Percy BRIDGES, son of Franklin Landers BRIDGES (1878-1955) and Marie Louisa METCALF (1878-1973); born 02 July 1902, Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana; died age 90 in Feb 1993, Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA; buried in ROW 11, next to his wife, at the Ream-Reddig Family Cemetery, Reamstown, Lancaster Co., PA (corner of S. REAMSTOWN RD and COCALICO CREEK RD).

Charles BRIDGES married 13 September 1940, Plaistow, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire to Dorothy Waldheim MYERS, daughter of Conrad W. MYERS and Bertha E. WALDEHIM.

"Charles P. Bridges, 90, of 1520 Greystone Road, Manheim, died Friday at Lancaster General Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Indianapolis, Ind., he was the son of the late Franklin Landers and Maria Louise Metcalf Bridges.
He was the husband of Ellen K. Haansen Bridges.
He was previously married to Dorothy Myers Bridges, who died in June of 1984.
A retired engineer and entrepreneur, Bridges designed and patented many inventions. His achievements included building the first industrial air-conditioning unit and developing a machine to extract cortisone from plants and instill it into a cream base for medical purposes.
Bridges also invented, built and patented Tri-Rib blenders and the Brilsonair dehydrator.
Bridges also invented a textile apparatus machine to mass produce material.
He also invented and patented an apparatus for evaporating and concentrating liquids such as evaporated milk, and also the Runge Brenco Centrivapor processor - the first centrifuge.
In addition, he invented a blender apparatus to make candy. The machine is still used today by Hershey's Food Corp. Bridges was also the firs person to develop powdered milk for the U.S. Army.
Bridges was a member of the American Postal Association of Chess (APAC).
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons: Chris C., Salisbury, Vt.; John F., Tiburon, Calif., and Robert E., Sanbornville, Vt.; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Linda L. Graham, Elizabethtown, and Bente Korswold, Bradenton, Fla.; one stepson, Glen Korswold, Sarasota, Fla.; five step-grandchildren, and one sister, Barbara Bridges Thompson, Palm Desert, Calif."
