Evan died at home in Burke, VA, early on Saturday, June 7, 2014. He was born on September 27, 1993 in Fairfax, VA. He is survived by his parents Richard Albert Hanscom, Jr. and Lauran Alicia Custer of Burke, his grandparents Richard Albert Hanscom of St. Thomas, VI, Carol Jacoby Hanscom of Englewood, FL, and Julia Mason Custer of Dumfries, VA, his great grandmother Constance Richarson Hanscom of Ellsworth, ME, his uncle Kenneth Hanscom and cousins Patrick and Nicholas Hanscom of Venice, FL, his uncle Jeffrey Hanscom of Lamoine, ME, his aunt and uncle Karin Hanscom Pinkham and David Pinkham of Ellsworth, ME, his aunt and uncle Kristin Hanscom Renberger and Michael Renberger and his cousin Ashlyn McBee of Pleasant Prairie, WI and many other relatives. He is predeceased by his grandfather Harold Vernon Custer, Jr.
As a child Evan participated in Webelos and Boy Scouts, soccer, and chess club, and wanted to be a marine biologist.
Evan was graduated from Robinson Secondary School in 2011. He played football for Robinson all four years of high school. He was attending NoVa Community College and was almost finished with his Associates degree in Business Administration, intending to finish his four year degree at VCU.
Evan was bright and outgoing, endearing him to the people he met. He was always ready to help out those he could. He enjoyed listening to music, playing guitar, and hanging out with his friends. He was always true to what he believed was right, and he was a fiercely loyal friend.
Evan was a bright light, and he will be dearly missed.
