British Royalty. Born as Duke Friedrich Ludwig of Brunswick-Lüneburg in Hanover, Germany. He was the eldest son of George II and his wife Caroline of Ansbach. He is perhaps best remembered as the father of King of England George III, and as the subject of the epigram which reads: "But since it's only Fred, Who was alive and is dead, There's no more to be said." It is believed that his premature death was connected to an accident he had whilst playing cricket. He was hit by the ball (
