A Revolutionary War soldier, serving two years as a corporal with the Vermont troops, part of the time under Captain Hopkins and Col. Seth Warner. He also served in the War of 1812 and was promoted from the various degrees of rank to that of a colonel. His wife received a pension until her death in 1841 (Severance, B. Frank.
